Program Introduction

Built on the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China’s strengths in electronic information and related fields, this course features the deep integration of mechanics, electronics, information technology, and artificial intelligence. Centered on the theme of “Robotics + Future Technology,” the program introduces core concepts such as the basic competition systems and rules of the China University Robot Competition, and covers robot design, artificial intelligence, and intelligent manufacturing through examples including competitive robots and insect-inspired bionic robots.

Through theoretical lectures, academic talks, hands-on training, company visits, and other learning formats, students will train alongside champion teams from the Asia-Pacific Robot Contest and the China University Robot Competition. They will also gain access to national-level experimental teaching demonstration centers and key laboratories in Sichuan Province. The program helps overseas youth understand and master the core concepts and fundamental theories of robotics and future technologies, broaden their knowledge in related fields, and gain insight into current hot topics, latest developments, and trends in robotics and future technology.

The course also guides students to develop scientific thinking in robot design and promotes interdisciplinary integration between robotics and other sciences. Alongside scientific exploration, students will practice Chinese listening, speaking, reading, and writing in real-life settings, while experiencing Chengdu’s local Bashu culture, panda culture, and food culture. Students who pass the final assessment will receive a certificate of completion and transcript issued by UESTC.

Program Highlights

1.Explore cutting-edge technology through hands-on learning
The course emphasizes learning by doing. From competitive robots to insect-inspired bionic robot design, students will take part in practical training and even exchange skills with champion teams from the Asia-Pacific Robot Contest. In national-level laboratories, students will work with machine tools and sensors, bringing robots to life through hands-on practice.

2.Official certification and future-oriented opportunities
Upon completion, students will receive an official certificate and transcript from UESTC, along with customized university souvenirs. Visits to leading companies such as CRP Robot will offer early exposure to the technology industry and future career possibilities.

3.A Chengdu-only experience: technology meets culture
Research by day, hotpot by night. During the program, students will visit places such as the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding and Sanxingdui Museum, learn local expressions in the lively atmosphere of Bashu culture, and experience the unique connection between technology and Chinese culture.

Host Universities

The University of Electronic Science and Technology of China is located in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. Founded in 1956 through the merger of telecommunications-related disciplines from three leading engineering universities, UESTC was listed as a national key university by the CPC Central Committee in 1960. It became one of China’s first “Project 211” key universities in 1997, entered “Project 985” in 2001, and was selected as a Class A “Double First-Class” university in 2017.

With electronic information science and technology at its core, UESTC is a multidisciplinary research university with engineering as its main strength and coordinated development across science, engineering, management, humanities, medicine, and related fields.

The university has three campuses: Qingshuihe, Shahe, and Jiulidi, with a total building area of over 1.49 million square meters. It is home to a modern digital library with rich collections and well-equipped sports facilities.

In the fourth round of China’s national discipline evaluation, four UESTC disciplines were rated A-category. Electronic Science and Technology and Information and Communication Engineering were rated A+, Computer Science and Technology was rated A, and Optical Engineering was rated A-.

Nine disciplines, including Engineering, Computer Science, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Neuroscience and Behavior, Biology and Biochemistry, and Clinical Medicine, rank among the top 1% globally in ESI, with Engineering and Computer Science ranking among the top 0.1%.
